Micanopy is Old Florida at its best, a sweet Southern town popular for its antiques shops, outdoor cafes, elegant b&b and organic bakery.

Named for the chief who lead the tribe during the Second Seminole War, Micanopy was originally founded in 1821 and is the oldest inland town in Florida. Its moss-draped granddaddy live oaks and turn-of-the-century buildings have attracted Hollywood filmmakers.

This small town has become a magnet for those seeking a true getaway from urban, even suburban life. The Micanopy Historical Society Museum is worth a visit, as is a stroll through the Micanopy Historic Cemetery, which dates back two centuries. The annual Micanopy Fall Festival (end of October) draws thousands of visitors, and its Fourth of July parade and fireworks often generate national news coverage for its tractor parade and all-American appeal.

The Micanopy Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes you to Florida's oldest inland town, circa 1821. Experience History!
